Bank of India's internet banking tech developed by UNIKEN bags award for safe banking

Pune: State-run lender Bank of India has won the “C-Change Enterprise Awards 2011” for “Best Security Implementation” of Startoken -- a secure internet banking technology solution developed by UNIKEN to provide military grade encryption and mutual authentication, for making internet banking a safer and secure experience, it said Monday.

Rise of fraudulant activities in internet banking and online payment transactions across the world with cyber attacks becoming more high-tech, the bank wanted to employ a technology-based solution enabling one to carry banking transactions safely from any computer device, Bank of India's Chief Information Security Officer, Risk Management Department, Sameer J Ratolikar, said.

“While we continue to educate our customers about what precautions to take, Bank of India wanted to implement an IT solution that could empower our customers to protect their own identity online and be able to do banking safely from any computing device without worrying about security,” Ratolikar said.

Keeping in mind the risks associated with online security and customer's privacy, as number of cyber attacks increase, customers will be able to see the positive initiatives taken by their banks as quite encouraging, UNIKEN Director & Head of Global Sales Ajay Seshadri said.

Bank of India is the first public sector undertaking (PSU) bank to introduce VPSI solution, which offers product features like two-factor authentication, customer protection from cyber fraud, phishing attacks, MITM (Man-in-the-Middle), MITB (man-in-the-browser), key-loggers, screen-scrapers, malware, spyware and Trojans.

UNIKEN is a product and technology innovation company, which deals in embedded systems, internet security and biometrics.
